Tax Filing Deadline Extended to May 17th
Also Unemployment – ARP Act Part Deux
The IRS deadline has been extended to May 17th. We anticipate that Massachusetts and other states will soon follow with the same deadline. Appointments up to April 15th will not change as we will keep the same hours. We will update you on scheduling for the period April 19th thru May 17th.
With the latest unemployment news, you’ve heard that the first $10,200 of 2020 unemployment benefits are non-taxable. However, Massachusetts has not yet approved this. The state legislature has been meeting on this issue but until approved, unemployment benefits are fully taxable in Mass. Should you have 2020 unemployment income, we will delay processing your return for a couple of days, waiting for Massachusetts. If Massachusetts aligns with the federal change, your state outcome will improve.
We will keep you updated on any new developments. Thank you for your patience.
In another subject regarding the new stimulus payments, we have no way of knowing when the IRS will be issuing those payments. Therefore, be patient and you will receive the funds.
